We envision a Lexington where streets are vibrant public places that bring people together and provide many safe and accessible transportation options.
Our mission is to build connections with neighbors to create lively, welcoming, and safe streets through small-scale community events, advocacy, and education.
Focus Areas
Placemaking and open street events
Placemaking efforts like asphalt art projects make streets feel more welcoming and distinct. They allow communities and neighbors to come together to create streets that are beautiful and increase safety for all road users.
Street festivals and events are a chance for a community to come together and celebrate on literal common ground. Events like this show that streets can be so much more than a place to get cars through.
Our plan
Partner with neighborhoods and organizations to plan and implement creative projects and street festivals, block parties, and other small-scale events, like StreetFest!
Put together toolkits and advocate for the city to make resources available and easily accessible.

Public transportation
We believe in the power of the bus to help increase Lexington’s accessibility and reduce its car dependency. Public transit is a public good that should be celebrated, invested in, and improved.
Our plan
Gather stories and build relationships with other bus riders.
Advocate for elected officials and decision makers to support Lextran.
Celebrate and share positive stories about riding the bus with the general public.

Advocacy
Spreading the word about ongoing efforts and make people aware of opportunities to support community-oriented and street-improving policy.
Our plan
Organize an annual Week Without Driving campaign.
Distribute a regular newsletter about transportation-related issues, updates, and advocacy opportunities in Lexington.
